The restaurant business could greatly benefit from the use of a telephone recorder. My folks and I run a new cafe and amidst all of the craziness I assumed we should have a telephone recorder. It absolutely proved useful while reworking our locale as far as maintaining a tally of conversations with the construction people and sellers so I thought it’d be handy at operating the restaurant .

I should say that having recorded chats was helpful when a deadline was missed by the construction crew. I also had a mixture up with the bar stools that were to be delivered. I had gone into the showroom and chose an auburn finish. The boss called me to double check what color I had wanted as it was left blank on the order form and I told him auburn. The stools were delivered and they were black. I called him back and told him they had sent the incorrect stools. He attempted to point out it was my mistake and I would need to pay a restocking fee. I kindly explained that unfortunately it was their mistake and i would not be paying a restocking fee because I had it on a recorded call that I wanted the stools in the auburn finish. He backed down and exchanged the stools at no cost to me.

I have found that employing a phone call recorder in the daily business of the restaurant has been useful. Customarily when sellers call I write all of the information down but as we’re all humans i did make a mistake. After I ordered 2x as much cabbage as was necessary for our BarBQ Bonanza event and I had to pay for my mistake. It was my blunder and I had a recorded call to prove it.

also , I’ve reviewed the calls our customers make to our main desk to make reservations. I review these calls to make certain the staff is being polite and amicable to each and every customer. The staff knows that the line is recorded and that at any point the call might be reviewed. We have used some of the calls for coaching purposes and obviously to elevate moral by praising our staff who do a good job. All in all I suspect this call recording device has paid for itself in the methods it has helped me protect our business.
