Cost Vs Benefit Of A Portable Stereo Recorder
As far as personal recorders go, there are a lot of options out there to pick from. However, when you are looking to purchase one, you want to make sure that it is going to be portal and very handy. Now, we were intrigued by the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder and we wondered whether or not it was actually going to be a worthwhile purchase. The idea behind this device is that you are supposed to be able to have stereo recording and this could very well come in handy. You might use it for conferences, lectures, college courses, musical performances and even rehearsals. But how is the sound quality?
When we tested out the H2 sound quality, we were actually very impressed. It has very good recording quality, no matter what it is that you are recording. Both instruments and voices sounded great.
Four Mics
Now, you weren’t sure about why the Zoom H2 has four microphones. After all, most of the top recorders out on the market only have two microphones. Apparently, the four microphones allow for the ultimate 360 degree recording. There should make for some interesting scenarios.
How Easy Is It To Use?
Now, so the Zoom H2 Recorder sounds good, right? But is it? The fact is, all you have to do to start recording with the H2 is to push a button which is pretty relieving since a lot of the devices out there make you jump through hoops just to get started. However, with the H2 there is only one button for recording and then you will find that there are controls on the side that will help you set the levels you want.
Is it Convenient?
Now that we’ve established that the H2 sounds good and that it’s easy to use, the question remains as to whether or not it’s actually portable. Is a device with four microphones small enough to be called portable, as the name of the device suggests? Actually, the H2 only weighs an amazing 4 ounces. That means it will fit in your pocket so that it’s ready to use whenever you need to record anything. The H2 also comes with earbuds, a stereo cable, a microphone clip adapter, a tripod stand, a USB cable, an AC adapter and an extra memory card.
When we first tried out the Zoom H2 we were a little on the skeptical side because of all of the shoddy portable recorders we have tried in the past. However, we didn’t have any of the same problems with the H2. It has great sound, 360 degree recording and it is extremely easy to use.
