Dominate All Kinds of Warrior PvP with this Guide
Even if your Warrior has avoided it in the past, Player versus Player (PvP) combat is in their future. Wrath of the Lich King has brought a new emphasis to WoW World PvP. There’s now a real time PvP battle zone called Lake Wintergrasp. There, the emphasis is on real-time World PvP. In this new zone, players go at it on the live server to earn points they can use to buy a wide variety of special items such as the new Heirloom items. These are items that any of the player’s characters in that account regardless of that character’s level can take advantage of.
Given the popularity of Lake Wintergrasp and the increasing amount of PvP combat in other popular games, there will surely be even more World PvP in the future. Here’s what you need to know for your Warrior to dominate in this new world:
If you’re new to World of Warcraft PvP combat, you might think that they’re little to do as a Warrior other than hacking apart anything that gets in the way. But there’s a surprising amount of subtlety to playing this class in the arena. As you’re about to see, a top-notch Warrior PvP Guide will actually come in handy.
As you would imagine, Warriors excel at dealing massive amounts of physical damage to anything they get close to. What’s surprising to most is that good Warriors are more concerned about dealing with spellcasters than they are about losing a sword fight. That’s because there are few character classes (Paladins and other Warriors) that can stand up against a Warrior for more than a few seconds unless they’re aided by magic. In straight physical combat, Warriors can deliver huge amounts of critical damage that will quickly terminate lesser fighters.
In PvP situations, a Warrior seldom gets into many close-in duels. You’re more likely to end up trying to chase down spell casters and ranged fighters like Hunters than you are to duel other Warriors. This means strategy and tactics are necessary.
A Warrior’s biggest concern is usually how to get close enough to an opponent to bring sword or axe to bear, and staying long close enough to kill the target. The other classes know better than to get you get too close, and will be doing everything they can to stay out of your range. To close the gap on the cowards, you will need to use specialized skills like Charge at the start of battles and Intercept to close the gap while in battle. Once close, your Warrior will need to use debilitating skills like Hamstring and Intimidating Shout to stop the worms from fleeing as you load up on rage and hit the opponent as hard as possible.
And while you’re thinking about all this, don’t forget that those damnable casters and ranged fighters can hurt you long before you get near them. That means you need to be able to use your defensive stances and spell reflects to minimize the harm they do to you, master the timing of Intercept and Hamstring, and be ready to deal massive amounts of damage to any character fool enough to end up within your weapons range. A quality Warrior PvP Guide can give you the knowledge you need to master all this without spending hundreds of hours experimenting and practicing.
A quality Warrior PvP Guide will show you how to defeat the other character classes in those situations where weapons skill and combat rage alone are not enough. It will teach everything you need to know to battle against any opponent on your own terms and how to counteract ranged and casting fighters. And it will show you the proper use of your rage and crowd control abilities, enabling you to catch and dismember your foes.
In addition, because the best PvP Guide will incorporate the hard-earned combat lore of veteran Warriors, it will contain strategies and tactics that you wouldn’t likely discover on your own in any reasonable amount of time. It will teach you the key things you need to know, without your having to expend vast amounts of time on trial and error learning.
