Ink Toner Cartridges: Would it be best to use Remanufactured or Compatibles?

Ink Toner Cartridges are widely used at this time. Laser printers now cost less than $200 while inkjet and photo printers are under $100, making them more affordable for small business owners and families than ever before. The more printer owners equals a bigger aftermarket of printing accessories.

Even so, consumers that purchase a cheap printer soon realized that their spending had actually just begun. For instance, a lot of OEM laser toners are individually priced at $100, the same cost of an ink jet printer or half the cost of a cheap laser printer. A family that prints many color pictures using their photographic printer can generally spend over $100 for OEM Toner Inkjet Cartridges in a few months. To pay more for ink cartridges over a short time than was spent on the actual printer is a crazy notion when you really consider it. Consequently, a lot of shoppers are seeking a cheaper option instead of costly OEM cartridges.

Although the myriad of options seems daunting, keep in mind that the main decision needs to be made between new compatible cartridges and cartridges that have been remanufactured.  These are called generic or compatible cartridges. They are made using the same guidelines as name brand cartridges, they just don’t carry the brand name. For half, or even a third of the cost of an OEM cartridge, you can get one of these cartridges.

However, re-manufactured Ink Printer Cartridges are name brand cartridges that have undergone one cycle of service. The company takes them in, takes them apart and cleans them, makes repairs if needed, then fills them with ink and sells them.

It’s not hard to find remanufactured and compatible cartridges, as the marketplace offers many choices.  You should be an aware consumer, and should always compare apples with apples. For instance, a few companies make compatible cartridges leaving out the smart chips. This kind of cartridges is cheaper than 100% compatible ones with new replacement chips. Only buy cartridges from vendors who offer refunds if their product is defective and warranty on all products they sell.
