Installing A Digital TV Antenna At Home
As you know, there are several different ways to get digital TV. An antenna is an old-fashioned but still popular way to receive transmissions for digital television. There are some countries that refer to it as an aerial. Other ways have been devised to receive digital television. If you are planning on receiving digital waves through an antenna, here are some tips. A word of warning, though. if you don’t feel like you can successfully install your own antennae, it’s better to let the pros do it.
Install it at a height that is well over your house’s. A general rule that is found with digital TV antennas is that the higher you mount it the better. UHF signaling is based on line of sight so the higher you mount your antenna the better. Installing an antenna higher means there are less things getting in the way of the signal that passes from the signal tower to your digital antenna. Those who love more than 70 miles away from the TV signal tower must mount their antenna very high by building some sort of tower to place it on.
Outdoor installation is best. It takes more effort to install the antenna outdoors, but this is necessary. The signal isn’t as good indoors than outdoors. An outdoor antenna makes all the difference because there are less objects obstructing the signal. Your outdoor antenna can receive a clearer signal from the tower. TV antenna signal issues indoors are quite similar to indoor cell phone signal issues. It’s better to make a cell phone call outside because of the stronger signal. With an outdoor antenna, you might get a few more channels.
Set the face of your antenna in the direction of the transmitting tower. {Do your research and figure out where the closest TV transmitting tower is. Do some research work, find out where the nearest transmission tower is and be sure to face the front of your antenna toward it. If you are not sure where the nearest antenna tower is, you can search online or go to your signal provider’s website}.
Your connectors must be sealed. Over time, the antenna connectors will get worn, which could lead to signal loss. Do your best to keep the cable length short. Properly ground your antenna to preserve it when there’s an electrical surge. This is usually done using a coaxial surge protector. Without this, your antenna is in danger of getting badly burned by lightning.
