Piano Hero in the Future?
Ever since the release of the first ever Guitar Hero game, the games have been a huge success and since that year, 2005, Activision have stormed the gaming market. Up until now Guitar Hero have released 10 different games, the first ones being based more on guitars. More recently, with the introduction of Rock Band, Activision has been forced to make the games include a number of instruments.
However, with 3 games in the tube, Guitar Hero are aiming for a market away from guitars while trying to take some market away from Rock Band.
The 3 upcoming Guitar Hero games are called Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero and finally DJ Hero. The first one, Guitar Hero 5, is a standard Guitar Hero game, featuring the standard instruments as well as a 85 strong set list. Alongside this game, a new guitar controller is being released which is improved on the previous model.
The next game up is Band Hero, this one is very similar to Guitar Hero 5, however it’s more of a family based game. Activision is using this game release as another way to try and get a larger cut of the market, this time, family gaming.
DJ Hero is the final game that they have in the pipeline. This is a totally new angle for Activision, and it’s a way of them trying to take a different piece of the gaming market. The game will benefit from a new controller, the DJ Deck. Because DJ Hero is targeting a brand new target market, it’s almost impossible to tell if the game will be successful. Although, if the game is successful, are we going to see a whole new range of Guitar Hero games? Obviously not called Guitar Hero. Plus, if DJ Hero is successful, will Rock Band release their own game range of compete with Guitar Hero.
There are still a large number of target markets that haven’t been looked at yet by Harmonix or Activision. One being piano players amoung us. No doubt a Piano Hero game would be popular because you would get both modern piano players, as well as more classical players who prefer to play grand pianos.
There are also other angles that could be considered, one being a classical version of Guitar Hero. Classical guitars are hugely popular and by bringing out a video game like Classical Guitar Hero, you would almost be entering a new market because the age of the player would be different to the age of a standard Guitar Hero player.
They are just a couple of the ideas that popped into my head, but whether they will ever turn into a game is another matter. Whether or not these games are preduced comes down to how well DJ Hero does in the market and how much money is made for Activision. Activision would also have to consider when making a game like Classical Guitar Hero, whether or not it would make any money for them.
These are all factors that would need to be considered before a new game would even go into production, but I would like to see some of these games in the near future.

Is DJ Hero really going to be taken seriously?
With the huge successes that Guitar Hero has bought Activision have announced the new DJ Hero which is set to be released in October of this year. The question is will it be a fat boy hit or will it fall into the ever growing forest of games that we certainly wouldn’t mind giving up for lumber jacking.
With major artists like Black Eyed Peas and Eric Prydz being put on the game it is hard to see it won’t at least attract the crowd who are into that type of music. Fans of the current Hero series are very unlikely to buy this as the music in the game is the complete opposite. Not only this a poll done on a popular gaming website has shown that the majority of people do not actually want or even care about this game and to be honest it is completely understandable as playing in a rock band is a much higher dream than being a DJ.
The rea big problem that Activision faces is the gamers themselves. They have actually done very well for themselves over the pst few years with huge titles like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty under thier belt it would be a great shame to see thier hard work go to waste on something like this if of course it doesnt do well. It is a face that there are far less DJ's out there than instrument players so less people are bound to buy the game.
Although it does actually sound like a good idea when put on paper, is it realy going to work in the same way that Guitar Hero did. Perhaps game developers should start making games for gamers again and not for the people that haven’t touched a game in their lives, a lot of people would rather buy the proper DJ equipment and DJ software than buy this game but until release date of October it is hard to say for sure how well this game will sell.
Of course if you are already a DJ headphones are very important and it is always good to have a pair that protects your ears when performing.

For many people being a famous rock star has always been a dream hasnt it? Since the release of the very first game it has enabled people to do just that. For many people there was no longer any need trying to learn how to play the guitar when all you had to do is plug in a controller to the Xbox 360 and away you go! Of course Guitar Hero is not as satisfying as a real intrument (it isnt supposed to be) but it has certainly made its mark on the world enabling people to play thier favourite songs from the comfort of thier own living rooms.
There are now giant names to the GH name such as ACDC and Metallica to allow thier fans to play all of thier best love songs all on one game.
With the new drums and microphone being added to World Tour it enabled fans to actually form a full band either in thier living rooms or over Xbox Live so it felt like a much more realistic experience.
it s also certainly true to say that there are many bands out there that cannot stand the product and insist that fans should refuse to buy it and take up playing a real instrument. There is of course no better alternative than actually playing a real instrument which is something that the game understands but what bands do not undertand is how much time and effort needs to be put in to actually learn an instrument.
But for people who have always been interested in being a DJ then DJ Hero is on its way for you. Of course buying all your own DJ equipment and DJ software is expensive and not to mention hard work, could Activision have it right again with this or are they simply going too far?
Of course if you already are a DJ why not purchase some Behringer headphones to make those ears a it safer when you are playing a set.
