Setting Up A Projector In The Workplace

For any business who is serious about integrating audio visual equipment into the office environment then a good quality projector should surely be at the top of most company’s shopping lists.  For those who are novices when it comes to purchasing such equipment it is easy to get confused at the sheer array of options and models that are available.  Here are a few tips that will help you to choose the right piece of equipment for your office.

You should start by first deciding what purpose you intend to use the projector.  Give careful thought to the room it is likely to be used in and how much ambient light there is in the room.  Consider also the people who will be using it, in particular how many people are likely to be gathered round viewing the display.  You also need to take into consideration the type of display that you will be using to project on.  Other issues that are worth taking into consideration are aspects such as weight, particular applications for the device and of course the cost.

The first important aspect to think about is the size of the room in which the projector will be situated.  If the room is large then it is likely that a good few people will be gathered round to view the display and as such will require a projector that is capable of projecting a large images without compromising the clarity.  If this is the case then you will require a projector which is more powerful and able to display brighter images as larger images tend to suffer in terms of their brightness.

One of the most important factors that come into play when choosing a projector is the amount of light present in the room where it is being used.  If the room is surrounded by several windows where there is likely to be a large amount of natural light pouring in through the windows then the chances are that you will again require a more powerful projector to combat the effect of this ambient light.  Ideally the room should be in darkness when using the projector, however in some practical situations this simply isn’t possible as rooms must be lit to a certain extent in order to avoid accidents taking place.  If the levels of light in the room are adjustable then this may go some way to forming a compromise.

The surface on which the projector’s image is displayed will also play an important part in the decision making process.  In many cases the meeting rooms in which projectors tend to be used will have painted white walls which in actual fact tend to be relatively poor reflectors of light.  In these cases you should make a point of using a high quality projection screen as it will reflect more light back.  There is no point investing a significant sum of money into a powerful projector if the effects will simply be rendered useless by an inadequate display surface.

So you see there is a logical process to choosing suitable audio visual equipment for the office.  If you are unsure about any aspect of your purchase then it would be worth consulting a local retailer who will be able to advise you on making a practical decision.

Digital Transcriber: A Wonderful Strategy To Create A Paper Free Office

Several office dictation methods have been around since at least the 1940s. The fundamental process of dictation involves having the author of a document dictate its contents into a recorder and then a typist convert the recorded matter into a typed document.

Today, however, the concept remains the same but the technology is vastly upgraded. Learn how a desktop digital transcriber and recorder could bring your business into the 2010s. Transcription begins with the author of a document recording its contents and ends with the typist. The most excellent approach to set about transcribing is with a transcription kit which has the Olympus DS-5000 recorder and AS-5000 Transcription package.

More about the package will follow soon, but first, a let’s say a word or two about the recorder. The Olympus is like any standard tape recorder you have used, but this unit has no tapes. All content is stored on SD or micro SD memory cards. What makes the Olympus really special is that digital files can be encrypted for security. Secrecy of patient and client records has never been easier to protect.

The files stay on the recorder until placement in docking cradle, then they’re automatically transferred via USB cable to an Olympus digital transcriber package. The program and hardware of the pc digital transcriber package is which transforms digital files into office documents.

This kind of kit contains special software from Olympus, a foot pedal to control audio playback, and headset for the typist. Both the recorder and desktop transcribing package/software support Digital Speech Standard Pro recording format optimized for human speech. The software has the additional benefit of supporting a large installed base of business class Windows operating systems. It’ll run on both 32-bit systems and 64-bit, including Windows 2000 Professional, XP Home edition, Vista Business 64-bit edition, and Server 2003.

Additionally, the Olympus software will do what many other business systems will not: function on popular versions of Mac OS 10.x. In general, it’s clear that the finest approach to protect business documents and simplify their dictation and creation in a paperless environment is with an Olympus digital transcriber. The Olympus DS-5000 recorder and AS-5000 Transcription package normally retails for about $850, with individual components sold alone or as a complete package.

Why You Should Upgrade To Windows 7

Download Windows 7

Windows 7 is Microsoft’s latest operating system. Although it seems to be a re-worked version of Microsoft Vista, this is not the case.

Windows Vista employed a technology that was very new at the time, 2006, when Vista was launched. The new technology involves the way in which the kernel of the computer operates. Because the computer ran off the kernel with Windows XP, there was a need for many new service packs and updates.

The system became vulnerable for hackers from all over the world that took advantage with labyrinth of Trojans, worms and even more.

Microsoft tried to address this issue in Windows Vista. They did, but it took up too much space for many users’ computers to operate well and required enough authorizations to complete common tasks that it would make a patient person go mad, never mention the rest of the world.

A FASTER OPERATING SYSTEM

Windows 7 offers customizable levels of user account control or UAC. Plus, it has all the same benefits of decentralized function without using as many resources as Vista did.

In fact, it takes up approximately the same footprint as Windows XP did. Just remember that Winows XP was created in 2001 when hard drives of 60GB was considered as super cool and 1GB of RAM was only a luxury.

Because Windows 7 taxes the computer’s resources the same than Windows XP did, it runs twice as fast as Windows Vista did. This is a huge reason to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 in and of itself.

FEATURES OF WINDOWS 7

One of the worst side effects of decentralizing core operations from the kernel means that the user re-focus the operations. This means that users can have very separate libraries. In previous versions of Windows it caused a big inconvenience, but with Windows 7, Microsoft enabled a way to stream information, music and files between users.

Another huge benefit, The HomeGroup, was added when this feature was opened up. With The HomeGroup you can easily navigate firewalls and do file permissions because it only needs the setting up of a password for the home network.

Even a printer can be shared on the HomeGroup features as it operates pretty much the same as signing onto a router. Media can be streamed to non-computer devices , such as televisions or stereos, by using the new “Play to” feature when connected to the HomeGroup, even when the user is not at home.

Windows 7 offers several other features and benefits to its users, making the decision to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 more than about the low price. Windows 7 has new features like “Shake”, the ability to minimize all but the active window by “shaking” it. Users can maximize performance based upon their computer’s strengths and weaknesses with the power efficiency reports.

They have even added improvements to favorite features like the addition of the Ribbon, as seen in Office 2007, to all Windows applications/applets and new ways to specify audio outputs. Windows 7 is the first Microsoft operating system to fully support touch screens.

Office Ergonomics Made Simple

When you have to sit at a desk all day, you should be comfortable. It’s best to invest in height adjustable computer desks so that you can work at a comfortable position. You should have plenty of room for your computer, mouse and monitor and other necessary items. There should be plenty of leg room where you can stretch out and relax. Your desk chair should be adjustable so that you can fix the height, back, arms and wheels so that you feel comfortable and safe. You also need to use a foot rest if your feet do not touch the floor. Taking the time to set up your office furniture will make a difference throughout the day and you will feel more refreshed at the end of the day also.

Make an Ergonomic Change to Increase Productivity

People spend hours in their offices, working very hard to do their jobs and support their families. They use the same keyboards and chairs each day, as they sit at the same desk. As days, weeks, months and years pass, these same people notice new aches and pains. They usually blame it on age or stress, yet they continue to endure the pain, which often worsens as the days slip by. Unfortunately, many of these people do not realize that being sore and in pain does not have to be a part of their lives. Making minor changes in their office equipment or in the way they sit or type can make such a difference. Using height adjustable computer desks have been shown to increase production due to an increase in the alertness of workers.
