Which Music Game Should You Buy?
This has always been a tough decision to have to make ever since the likes of Rock Band game Guitar Hero World Tour came along, which music game is right for you? Now this decision is becoming even harder because both gaming companies are releasing even more games, so here’s a post to explain the range of games you can get on the next-gen consoles.
I’ll kick off with Guitar Hero 2, the first Guitar Hero game to be released onto the next-gen consoles. Although this is a good game, it only has the guitar career so this one is not a great one for beginners. I do think this game is a good buy if you are a fan of classic songs like Free Bird.
Guitar Hero 3 is the next game up, this one can be played on the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Guitar Hero 3 is similar to Guitar Hero 2, very good, but the guitar is the only playable instrument. However, this game comes with the best set list so it really is a must have for any guitar hero fan.
The next one is Guitar Hero Aerosmith but I will also include Guitar Hero Metallica because they are both band-based games. Based on what I just said, these games are not brilliant for beginners because you don’t get the range of songs that you would in the normal games. Unless you are a Guitar Hero fan or a fan of the particular band, I wouldn’t recommend them.
Guitar Hero World Tour is a very popular one at the moment because it contains all 4 instruments, guitar, bass, drums and mic. However, I personally think it comes with a terrible set list. It’s full of very old and cheesy songs, although, it is a fun one for the whole family to play.
Now for the latest Guitar Hero game, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits. I do believe that this game is the best for a beginner Guitar Hero player or entire family. I believe this because the song list is built up from the best songs from Guitar Hero 1,2,3, 80′s and Aerosmith. This results in a brilliant set list to play, plus the ability to play these songs using the full range of instruments.
Now onto Guitar Hero’s competitor, Rock Band. The first game they released, Rock Band 1, was very good, it had a great set list as well as the introduction of the drums which are very well built. The guitar controller that was released with the game was horrible, but the game itself was absolutely brilliant. However, with Rock Band 2 being released, this is a more ideal game because it comes with an even better set list, as well as a range of improved game features. Also, once you have Rock Band 2, you can then buy Rock Band 1 and add the songs onto Rock Band 2.
The only downside to Rock Band 2 is that you currently can’t buy the Rock Band 2 instruments in Europe that come with improved drums. However, these new instruments are being released with The Beatles: Rock Band later this year.
That’s not all though, Rock Band also has very good amount of songs that you can download. They have hundreds of different songs available on the various consoles that you can download, plus, the even better thing is that once downloaded, they are available on any of the Rock Band games.
However, is Rock Band a good choice for beginners? I would personally say it isn’t, however, it is the best game for an experienced player because it has such an expandable set list.
As for the best game for beginners, aslong as you get all the instruments to get the most out of the game, I would say Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is the best.

They hope that they will be able to incorporate this tech into many of their games aswell as games purposely created for the controllers.
Sony ended their conference with a brand new console announcement, the PSP Go. The new PSP is a smaller and lighter version of the PSP with a slide up screen that uncovers the controls. The new PSP Go will contain an internal flash drive which will store all your games, meaning you don’t have to carry discs out with you. It also contains an extra flash drive slot for some extra storage space aswell as WiFi and Bluetooth technology.
That was the end of all the conferences from the big publishers and console developers for this year, I’m pretty sure we’ll be kept busy with all of that stuff until next years E3.

Learn How to Be Frugal with PlayStation 3 Purchase
Today being frugal is part of what most of the people are looking for. The same trend is very popular in the niche of video game consoles and, in particular, in the niche of PS3s (PlayStation 3 consoles).
In this article I would like to give a short overview of how to get cheap PlayStation 3 legally.
But first of all, let me explain why the notion of getting PlayStation 3 for cheap is possible. You see, the Sony giant who is creating these wonderful video game consoles needs to make money, otherwise this branch of business will go down the drain.
That is why Sony understands that they need to be encouraging and proactive on the recession-bumped market.
Due to this, they are doing 2 things:
– make the prices for PlayStation 3 really affordable to the mass audience;
– give a big field of incentives for the vendors, so that these vendors have enough financial tools to persuade the purchaser to buy the console.
And this is where you – and the one who is looking for the cheap PlayStation 3 console – can get a real advantage on seeking for the bargains.
What are the typical ways to getting a good price for PS3?
First of all, think about famous online auctions. They are not the leader in terms of giving you the cheapest price. But their price still should be much better than what you are getting in the offline stores. Just make sure that the online vendor on the auction has good reputation, because this is where the crooks from time to time are cheating the buyers.
Look for the vouchers online. As mentioned above the vendors have enough financial tools in their hands to give great incentives. One of the incentives is a voucher. One great voucher can save you very nice lump sum of money on the purchase of PS3.
More frugal tips are published on the blog, quoted and hyperlinked in this post.

Microsoft Xbox 360 – Comparison with PS3
The PS3 is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the successor to the PlayStation 2. It is PS3 vs Xbox 360 as the PlayStation 3 competes with Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It is included as a part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. A major feature that distinguishes the PlayStation 3 from its predecessors is its unified online gaming service, the PlayStation Network, which contrasts with Sony’s former policy of relying on game developers for online play. The PS3 was also the first Blu-ray 2.0-compliant Blu-ray player on the market. The PlayStation 3 was first released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America, and March 23, 2007 in Europe and Oceania. Two SKUs were available at launch: a basic model with a 20 GB hard drive (HDD) and a premium model with a 60 GB hard drive and several additional features.
The Xbox 360, the successor to the Xbox, is the second video game console produced by Microsoft. The seventh generation of video game consoles include Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii. A prominent feature of the Xbox 360 is its integrated Xbox Live service. It allows players to compete online and download arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows, and movies. An Xbox support manual explains many Xbox features. They are Windows Media Center multimedia capabilities, mandatory support of high definition in all games and game downloads from its online marketplace. It also includes the ability to watch HD DVD movies with an add-on drive. The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005. The detailed launch and game information were divulged at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Upon release, the console sold out completely in all regions except Japan. As of January 5, 2009, 28 million units have been sold worldwide, according to Microsoft. The “Arcade”, the “Pro”, and the “Elite” are the currently available versions, each with its own selection of accessories.
The Xbox360 problems are many in number and quite common. Many issues can be identified by a series of red lights flashing on the face of the console. These are the three flashing red lights or the Red Ring of Death. Other issues are discs becoming scratched and “bricking” of consoles due to dashboard updates. Many articles have appeared in the media portraying the Xbox 360’s relatively high failure rates. When a Microsoft Xbox 360 console experiences a “general hardware” or “core digital” failure, the warning signs include freeze-ups, with the screen having strange, spontaneous graphical problems, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns, frozen and strange, static-like sound, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off. In newer consoles, there can be three lights flashing with a green light flashing in the center for power outages

Future Game Releases to Look Forward to
With so many big releases like Killzone 2, Halo Wars and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X already come and gone, there are still so many more planned, I thought this would be a good post to write. So, that said, here are some of the games that you should be looking forward to throughout the year.
- Residient Evil 5 is the first one really worth mentioning, however, I personally won’t be buying this game, I just find it stupid how you can’t move and shoot or reload and shoot, but that’s just my opinion. I know that when this one is release on March 13th, it will be a huge hit.
- Crysis: Maximum Edition – This isn’t a new game, but a box set of all the games rolled into one, you get Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars (the multiplayer) and if you haven’t yet played any of them, that will be the perfect box set for you. March 20th is when this game is hitting the shelves.
- Singstar: Queen – March 20th.
- Aliens Colonial Marines. Not much has been released on this one but I’m hoping for good things, considering the Alien films. Odd release dates though for it, March 27th for PC and then unconfirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360.
- Batman Arkam Asylum. I hope this is going to be a good game as I am a huge Batman fan. By the looks of the trailer you have to fight your way around the asylum. It looks like seperate release dates are planned for the 360 and PS3, but I’m not convinced.
- The Godfather 2 – 10/04
- The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. If you couldn’t get enough of the first Riddick game, then you will love this one. with voices of Vin Diesel and still with a bit of FPS and hand combat involved, it should be a good game. Due for release on April 24th.
- Fuel – I have only seen a few screenshots for this one, and it looks alot like the PS3 game, Motorstorm. I’m just hoping it’s going to be a good racing game.
- XMen Origins: Wolverine. This is obviously a movie game so who knows what it will be like, some are good, yet some are bad, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
- Terminator Salvation – 22/05
- Prototype – A strange one, you play as a genetically modified person who now has super powers, might be good. Set for release in June 2009
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction – This game has been in development for a long long time so it really carries alot of expectations but lets hope it will be released when they say this time, June 2009.
- The Sims 3 – Although alot of people play the Sims games, I hate them, simply because I think they have milked it too much. The amount of expansions it has is crazy, but I know people will want it, so here it is.
- Ghostbusters – Who ya gonna call? June 19th
- Dirt 2 – 9/09
- Tekken 6 – 25/09
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – This game was only announced recently but it will definitely be a massive hit, with the amount of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s sold and the amount of awards it picked up, this sequel will hopefully be even better.
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
It looks like a pretty good upcoming year for games. Hopefully no game developers will go bust, fingers crossed.
