Samsung CLP 500 Printer: Top Quality At A Low Cost
Samsung has built a brand new color laser for the midrange budget, and for $249 they seem to have done it right. The Samsung CLP 500 printer is an elegant and functional laser printer that allows you to do all the fancy tricks without having to part with the cash you might expect. A good return on your investment is pretty much guaranteed, without any compromise in quality thanks to the Samsung 500 replacement toners.
The first feature that strikes your interest is its high performance speed. Black and white pages are printed at 21 ppm (pages per minute), while color prints at 5 ppm. This makes it the fastest printer in its league. Start up, like most printers, is not as fast, but this should not be a problem. If you know you are going to have to print in a few minutes, just switch it on and let it warm up.
The speed of the connection cables is also great. The USB 2.0 is 40 times quicker than the printers that use USB 1.1. Another winning feature in the connectivity department is a standard IEEE-1284 parallel port included in the package for free. It comes with an optional dual wired/wireless interface network card, which if you like to work in a cable free office is a huge advantage.
One of its greatest selling points is that it has automatic duplexing. In English that translates to being able to do double-sided printing. This does slow it down, but you will save money on toner and paper. This feature makes printing booklets and guide manuals easy, just tell your printer what you want to do and staple the center of the end result to enjoy your professional looking booklet. However, make sure that when you use it in this mode, you do not try to pull the page out before it has finished duplexing. I say this because the printer has a somewhat strange way of letting the paper out and then dragging it all the way back to finish the process. I would recommend walking away and letting the printer do its job.
Technology-adverse users will love this easy to use printer. A built in LCD window with printer menus and options comes standard, which makes printing all that much easier. Compatibility with PC and Mac is not an issue, a nice extra for offices that use both operating systems.
If less noise is important to you, you are going to love this printer. Especially on sleep mode, this printer is silent, comfortably below 48 decibels. However you will hear it when it is printing, as it hums and purrs like other color laser printers do. In fact, the previous Samsung 550s were a little quieter.
The printer is easy to open and changing cartridges is not at all complicated. As usual with new printers, the complimentary Samsung CLP printer toner cartridge will not print more than 1,500 pages, so you might want to buy one soon and have it on hand.
Image quality is set at 1,200 pixels per inch, which is higher quality than you will ever need in an office printer. RAM memory is not overly impressive at sixty five megabytes of RAM, but you are not likely to need more.
The Samsung CLP 500 printer is a good buy for your small to large business that wants high quality at the great price of $249. It meets the needs of most small to moderate offices and makes an exceptional personal printer, especially when doing photographs.
The CLP 500 compatible toners is key to what your final prints look like. Extending the quality of the company right on down to the Samsung CLP printer toner cartridges is what this brand does. Finding new cartridge and toner is easy and inexpensive when you look online.
