World of Warcraft Characters

 

In the world of Azeroth, the Horde and the Alliance are opposing enemies stuck in a struggle for control of the land and neither side is backing down. Both sides are looking for total control of the land. Both sides will not give up, and the battle is endless! Horde and Alliance players can fight each other, but are unable to group together, trade, or even talk to each other. This keeps enemies from conflicting, and possibly becoming allies. To put it in simple words they are 100% enemies. This can cause some problems, but overall the World of Warcraft Characters are amazing. If you wish to play with your friends make sure you select the same races that belong to the same group, so you can become allies and fight together. Your World of Warcraft Characters could be either Horde or Alliance, so choose wisely.

On Player Vs. Player mode you can only create characters from one of the two races.
Horde Races: ORCS, TAUREN, TROLLS, UNDEAD, BLOOD ELVES
Alliance Races: HUMANS, DWARVES, GNOMES, NIGHT ELVES, DRAEN

The first step is to create your character:
Your first step before entering the Warcraft Universe is to choose your character. This means his or her race, the gender, and the “class”. You might want to do some research before deciding on some of the choices because it may effect you in the long run. The gender’s of the characters don’t effect it’s abilities at all. Meaning if you have a female character it’s not “weaker” then the male character.

Customize Your Appearance
The 2nd step is to customize your character, this is where things get interesting! All characters have different hairstyles, hair colors, and skin colors. That is directly your choice, and once again it will not impact the abilities of the character. The only reason for this is to customize the character on how you want it to look ( Some look awesome). The only way the World of Warcraft characters abilities are impacted is through different choices you make throughout your game play. Some other things you can customize is their facial appearance, things like ear rings and other stuff. If you find this is boring and is taking up your time, simply click the “randomize” button to randomize your character’s appearance. This will take seconds and will give you a random character.
Your last step is to create a name! The name you choose will represent you to everyone you meet in the Warcraft Universe, so don’t be stupid! Make sure you don’t violate any of the rules because getting banned is not fun. Once you finished choosing your name your ready to enter the world! Click the “Enter World” tab to enter the World of Warcraft! As you can see the World of Warcraft Characters are simply amazing. No other game has characters like World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft simply take’s creating your character and role-playing to the next level.

World of Warcraft Gathering Professions

World of Warcraft professions are divided into two groups, primary and secondary.  A player may only have two primary professions but all 3 secondary ones.  Primary professions are broken down into Gathering, Production (Crafting) and Service professions.  Secondary professions are Fishing, Cooking and First Aid.  Of the secondary professions, fishing is the only gathering one. With Primary and Secondary professions your skill level does not automatically increase as your character’s class level goes up.  As with all skills, in order to level up you have to have a trainer teach you.  Apprentices have to be at least class level 5, Journeymen a 10, Expert a 20, Artisan a 35, Master a 50 and Grand Master a 65.  Each skill level has point caps, also.
 
The Gathering professions are Herbalism, Mining and Skinning.  These are the only Primary professions that have a chance to fail when being used.  There is no guarantee that you will succeed at getting your prize the first, second or even third attempt.  Also, gathering your materials (mats) can put you in harm’s way.  You will rarely come across any mat that isn’t in the middle of a herd of vicious creatures or an enemy encampment.  Skinners are hard pressed to find a string of carcasses just lying along the roadside in WoW so be prepared to fight for every leaf, nugget or bear hide.  Your payoff is that these raw ingredients sell well at the Auction House and on the trade channel.
 
The Gathering professions are pretty straight forward in what you’ll be doing.  As an Herbalist, you pick plants, Miners find ore lodes using their pick to dig them out and Skinners use their skinning knife on dead animals to collect the hides.  In this regard being a gatherer is also the most simple of the professions.   
 
WoW Gathering professions are simple and dangerous to do but worth the risk when your bank is fat.  Pick with Harpies flying by, dig for gold near goblin camps or skin serpents; a little danger can have a profitable return in these professions.

World of Warcraft Realms

In World of Warcraft (WoW) the terms realms and servers are interchanged but not in this article. There are four types of realms in World of Warcraft (WoW), each one putting the player in a different style of fighting environment.

There is the Player vs Player (PVP), Role Player vs Player (RPVP), Player vs Environment (PVE) and Role Player vs Environment (RPVE). Playing against the environment (also called a Normal realm) is safer because no one from the other faction can kill you outside battle grounds or arenas. Playing RPVP or PVP keeps you on your toes because of the risk of potential enemy ambushes, as well as everything else trying to kill you. Also, only Normal realms allow you to have characters on both the Horde and Alliance sides.

Being in a Role Playing realm gives you the choice of how you want to interact with your character and other players. When you are Role Playing the characters you create, they will have background stories, family histories, personality and physical traits and all these come from your imagination. Your character will have all these qualities but they must fit their race and class and Role Players take their game seriously.

In the PVP & PVE environments you pick your faction, race and class like Role Playing worlds but in building a character, there are limited personal touches you give your toon. You choose the face type, skin tone, hair style and a few other traits, click the “accept” button and you’re done. No one will ask you where you come from or who your family is. You can just jump right into playing World of Warcraft.

Role playing is great for people who have done this type of gaming before or are ready to take their skills to a new level. PVP and PVE are best for people who either don’t care to role play or who want to learn the game mechanics well before getting involved in an elaborate game environment. Players at any level of gaming experience can enjoy WoW and never get bored.

Modes of Transportation in WoW

WoW has lots of modes of transportation to get a player around.  There are zeppelins, sailing vessels, personal mounts, a player’s hearthstone and a tram.  There are also winged creatures that taxi players from Flight Master to Flight Master.  Some methods are fairly instant and some last so long you wonder “Are we there yet?”    Zeppelins and boats are free with no level limits.  Zeppelins are for Horde players  taking them from Orgrimmar to Tirisfal (outside Undercity’s gates), Grom’gol and Warsong Hold in Northend.  They also go from Tirisfal to Grom’gol and Vengeance Landing, also in Northend.     
 
Alliance boats take players from Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine and now to Valiance Keep in Northend.  Auberdine boats go to Rut’theran and to Valaar’s Berth.   Menethil Harbor boats go to Theramore Isle and in Northend they stop at Valgarde.   Alliance players can take Deeprun Tram between Stormwind and Ironforge to avoid the snow and killer creatures.  Some modes of transportation are neutral.   Horde and Alliance players can take the same boat or giant sea turtle to the contested areas where both factions quest.
 
Flight Masters save your sandals from miles of walking between places.  Each faction has its own set of flying creatures.  The cost depends on the distance you want to fly.  If you’re going from one side of the continent to the other it can be over 2 gold and take several minutes.  Any level can fly anywhere they’ve discovered a flight path.  
 
The type of personal mount you get depends on your race, class, character’s level, Reputation with allies and how much gold you have.  Your Reputation determines your cost and availability of mount type.  If you are Exalted with an ally race you may buy one of their mounts, otherwise you have to stay the your racial mount. 
 
The modes of transportation in WoW range from free to bankrupting, fast to snail-paced, public or personal and they all usually beat walking.  You can travel on Horde, Alliance or Neutral types of transportation that allow you see the world from on high or asea.

World of Warcraft Tips and Secrets

 

As a new player to World of Warcraft you can become overwhelmed by all the information that is thrown at you and the information that isn’t even given to you. When you sign up for World of Warcraft you get tons of information guiding you through the game. At first glance you will be extremely overwhelmed and won’t know where to start. Also there is a lot of information that isn’t given to you directly and you will be missing out on very important information. However, I have a few World of Warcraft tips and secrets that will get you on your way to becoming the next level 80 World of Warcraft phenomenon.

The first World of Warcraft tip and secret is that you should level your character to level 10 before you do anything else. This will get your character to a decent position that will allow you to do more things.

Once you reach level 10 you should now pick your two professions based on what you feel is necessary. Based on the two professions that you pick, you should now focus on doing these professions in order to make money because after all you need money to conquer the World of Warcraft game.

Once you have obtained level 10, picked your two professions and began making money you should now buy as many large bags as you can in order to store more gold. The more room you have to hold gold equals the more amount of gold you can make!

The third tip and secret is another source to make gold, which is at the Auction House. At the Auction House you trade all your consumable items for money or another member’s items. If you are going to sell your items make sure you pick a reasonable price so that other members will definitely buy your product and not someone else’s.

So how do you get items? World of Warcraft secret and tip number four will answer that. A very successful way to get items is from the mobs you encounter and kill throughout your journeys. When you kill them take their items that will be free of cost to you and bring them to the Auction House to sell and you will make pure profit.

The final World of Warcraft tip and secret is to get Addons. Addons can save you so much time off your learning stage because they do some of the work for you. The most useful addon is Quest Helper which will show you where to go and what to kill in order to complete your quest saving you time and getting you money much quicker.

World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King

Blizzard Entertainment ( creators of World of Warcraft ) is a very successful team. They banked around 10 billion dollars alone on World of Warcraft! They have created many successful expansions and one of them is the “Wrath of the Lich King”. This is Blizzard Entertainments latest expansion to the World of Warcraft and is rising through the ranks.

In this expansion players actually hold the fate of the famous land “Azeroth” at their fingertips! The Lich King is a potential threat to Azeroth and can put it into extinction. Only the most epic fighters will prevail in this heroic new expansion to the World of Warcraft. Players will gain high levels of power, and roam through a new and updated continent. Players will be fighting other high-level heroes, putting themselves at danger, this is truly an epic expansion pack!

Some of the features of World of Warcraft “Wrath of the Lich King” are:

1.  Master powers of the Death Knight- The first “Hero Class”. To show off your heroic fighter, gain the “Hero Class”, this will simply show that you mean business and take your character to the next level in World of Warcraft.

Making Gold on WoW:  Vendors or The Auction House?

 What’s the fastest way to make gold on WoW, vendors or the Auction House (AH)?  Most of the gold you’ll make as a new player will come from either vendors or the AH.  How does a player decide which one to pick?  The answer is: how fast do you need the gold, how close are you to an AH and what’s the item’s value?  That’s really all it boils down to. 

 Only the major cities in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor have an AH.  Vendors are everywhere.  They’re in towns, cities, tiny encampments, outposts and even alone under a tree or behind a rock far from the beaten path.  when your bags are full of junk far from a city, these guys come in handy.  Your bags have more room for those prized items in your next quest and your wallet fattens up.

 One of the tips on the loading page is that a grey item is of little value so sell it to a vendor.  That’s not really true.  Lots of grey items are components for potions or spells.  You have to learn which ones they are so you get silver or gold from the AH, not meager coppers from a vendor.  Weapons, armor or other non-biological items that are grey should be sold to a vendor.  The tricky part in getting gold for grey items is knowing which body parts, plants and scraps have value to other players at the AH.

 Browsing the items at the AH shows what has current value among players.  Check for the going rate.  Any white, green, blue or purple item will bring you more cash from the AH than from a vendor.  Unlike an immediate vendor sale, you can spend hours at the AH browsing, buying and selling. 

 Making gold on WoW by selling your items to a vendor or the AH is a matter of convenience, time and location.   Selling to a vendor is immediate but the AH has the best stuff to buy and the better gold for your sales.

Learning the Control Buttons in WoW

 Learning the control buttons (or Hot Keys) in WoW can seem frightening at first to new players.  You use your mouse and computer keyboard.  Each race and class has unique skills from the very start which have hot keys automatically programmed onto your character’s toolbar.  Learning how to control your direction and movement, while attacking a foe, using both your mouse and keyboard can be annoying at first.  Add to that, you have people talking to you while you’re trying not to get slaughtered by rabid animals, life-draining wraiths or other forms of nasty beasties.  The specific functions of your keyboard and mouse can be found in the Key Bindings on the Options menu.  This is found by hitting the Escape button.  You can customize which keys and mouse settings will control which actions.  When your character screen is loading there is also a Tips message across the screen which gives you tips on using your controls and other helpful information. 
 
Each race and class gets functions automatically set on their beginning toolbar.  These are your first spells, ranged and/or melee attack methods, racial and/ or class bonuses, food items and your handy backpack.  Before you go on your first mission, take the time to get to know your controls.  Learn how to run in a strafing pattern using your “Q” and “E” keys or change them out for some other keys.  Learn your attack keys and what the recharging time is.  What can you use for defense until it recharges?  Find a body of water and learn how swim and dive with your mouse before you have to deal with water creatures.  Know how to get to the surface or how far from shore you can get before you drown.   

 Learning the control buttons in WoW as you advance in level is an on-going process.  Every time you train, every new skill you learn, each new type of weapon you wield will have a button.  Mastering the controls takes patience and practice.  Don’t be afraid to practice on your friends.

Gold Farming is NOT Farming for Gold

Some World of Warcraft players who are new to the game have been confused by the terms gold farming and farming for gold. When you farm for gold you are collecting items off of what you kill, mine or otherwise gather so you can take it and make in-game money from it. You make your money when you sell the item, trade it to another player, use it as a component in an item or turn it into something completely different. This method of getting rich will boost your gathering profession skill level and increase your in-game cash.

When someone gets a lot of gold in the game, and then tries to sell it for cold, hard, cash in the real world they are gold farming. They usually send “whispers” to low level characters in the hopes that these people will be new to the game, and not know this is an illegal practice that will get them banned permanently from WoW. These people don’t care about playing WoW other than to make money off of greedy or gullible players. More players are now using AddOns that automatically filter these whispers out and report the violator directly to a Game Master (GM).  Players can always use the “report spam” button to report this activity to a GM as well. These illegal farmers also sell the gold on their own websites. Since all the gear, loot and currency belongs to Blizzard this practice is in direct violation of their terms of service rules.

Gold farming is illegal, puts unsuspecting new players at risk of being banned from the game and is looked down on as a greedy use for playing WoW by most gamers. Farming for gold is how you bring up your character’s profession skills, gets you able to buy better gear, mounts and companion pets. It keeps you in good standing with other players of World of Warcraft and won’t put you at risk of being forever banned from the game. Farming for gold…good. Gold farming…very, very bad.

WoW Class Breakdown: Rogues

Rogue

Rogues are another unique class that, like Warriors, do not have a mana pool to use abilities but rather an energy bar. An energy bar starts at full (100) energy and regenerates 20 energy every 2 seconds. A Rogue ability can cost anywhere from 9-60 energy. Rogues have a unique ability (which Druids can also do) to stealth, or turn invisible. This class also has abilities, called finishing moves (kidney shot, eviscerate) and the power of these finishing moves is determined by the amount of combo points (maximum of five) that the Rogue has built up. A Rogue generates combo points through the use of abilities, such as sinister strike, cheap shot, and backstab. The Rogue can sneak around undetected, which is often useful in surprising opponents. Rogues can also perform an unique type of crowd control (one that does not break on damage) called stunlocking. Rogues have cheap shot, which stuns for four seconds, kidney shot, which depending on combo points can range from 2-6 seconds, and gouge, which lasts for 6 seconds. Through this stunlock Rogues can effectively shut down enemy targets for a long period of time. The class is also known for its various defensive abilities such as vanish (returns to stealth), evasion (50% chance to dodge), and cloak of shadows (immune to all spells). It is also known that Rogues are very dependant on the various cooldowns they are given, examples which were mentioned earlier. Rogues, like Warriors, are also good for long-lasting Arena matches as they have an infinite bar of energy. Rogues also have a wide variety of specs that work effectively in Arena.

 

One Spec that has been very popular since the start of Arena for Rogues has been Mutilate Specc. Mutiliate is an ability that allows the Rogue to attack twice for 60 energy and gain 2 combo points for it. This not only allows for quick use of finishing moves but it also gives the Rogue a substantial amount of burst dps. Mutiliate Rogues are known for their quick usage of cooldowns which combined with Mutiliate damage allows the Rogue to drop their target very quickly. The only downside to this spec is that the Rogue loses some of the survivability of Premeditation and Combat Speccs. None the less, Mutilate Rogues are popular in 2v2,3v3, and on 4dps 5v5 teams, mostly because of their ability to produce such quick damage.

Another very popular specc for Rogues is Premed Daggers. Premed Daggers has burst damage rivaled only by Mutiliate and at the same time Premed Dagger Rogues have access to an amazing ability, Preperation. Preperation resets all cooldowns (time until the ability can be used again) on the Rogues abilities. This not only gives Premediation Rogues the ability to burst players down quicker than any other specc, but also twice the defensive abilities of other Rogues. Premeditation Rogues get their name for the last ability they recieve, Premeditation. This ability applies two extra combo points to the target selected, which allows Premeditation Rogues to use their finishing moves quicker than any other specc.
