What Is New In The Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS

Most GPS units are anything but inspiring when it comes to their designs. The look is anything but sleek and they haven’t made the advances in technology for touchscreens that many other devices have. The latest release by Garmin, however, the Nuvi 3790T, is showing a new age of GPS design that truly may be inspired. With the modern new design of the unit, Garmin has also decided to make a few improvements to the touchscreen. This new endeavor by Garmin is the direct result of a few advances in engineering and technology they are employing. None of this really should be surprising when you consider the need to make intelligent use of technology in the effort to remain competitive. I am an ultrasound technician making a good ultrasound technician salary. When I have time, I love acquiring the latest information of any gadget with top technology. I know the new Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS is trendy in several ultrasound technician schools in California as it makes ultrasound technician students drive simple and cool. I just bought this device even though this cost a fairly big part of my ultrasound technician salary.

The Nuvi 3790T has the capability of being used anywhere including your car. It can also be used easily for walking as well. The simple reason is due to the very slender design and shape. It isn’t surprising that this unit has an feature called Pedestrian Mode. There are some nice features that make it great to use in your car or truck that Garmin was smart to include. The Nuvi 3790T comes with both a mount for the window and of course standard audio capability that make is good for using while driving. A neat feature it the Park Position Recall which allows the unit to remember where you parked your vehicle. The Nuvi 3790T will navigate you directly back to your car and you will no longer have to spend wasted time looking around the huge parking mall lot trying to find it.

Beside the City Navigator® NT, the SUNA Traffic Channel which offers a subscription that is valid for life is also a Nuvi 3790T standard. The one possible consequence of such a low-profile design is apparently there was no room left for an FM receiver. You need the receiver to get the traffic updates from SUNA. The FM receiver is housed in the charge unit, so you will need to have that too. Because the charger is a mobile device, you can at least get traffic updates while you are on the road.

You do have the capability of making hands-free phone calls because it also has Bluetooth capability. For some reason it seems that the microphone is the last thing they think about installing and often isn’t very high quality so you might want to experiment with the device first.

That the Nuvi 3790T offers voice response isn’t really new. However, the speech recognition engine software is customizable so it can learn to recognize your voice. We are seeing more intelligent devices these days with a degree of “learning” capability. Once it is taught to recognize your voice, you will be able to wake it up or activate it by saying a special command. There are particular menu commands or choices on display that are all you need to say after the unit is “awake”. Informing the GPS unit of your destination once you know where you are going is all you have to do..except for the actual driving.

Reports of outperforming other Garmin GPS in processing and voice recognition have been accredited to the 3790T. Some reports on minor decreases in the performance in other areas of speech recognition have come in too. Individual preferences can be one of the variety of reasons for the difference reactions among people.
