A very versatile smart phone, the Apple iPhone 3GS is affordable with lots of bells and whistles. In regard to smartphones, this particular model a few years ago was the best in its league. iPhone 4 is now the dominant smartphone, overshadowing this one. What is great about the release of the new iPhone is that it gives people a chance to try out the iPhone 3GS Smart Phone at a much lower cost. If you love to read books, though, you should know that there is a great and new way to read books on your iPhone 3GS. You can download the free iBooks app from the Apple App Store and then have access to more than 200,000 books. Most of the books in the store are free but even if you pay for one of them you’ll still be paying less than you’d pay for a paperback or hardcover. It’s also possible to download the Kindle app which gives you immediate access to the Kindle store on Amazon. This means that when you have an iPhone 3GS you do not have to buy a Kindle or any other e-book reader because your phone works the same way. The biggest drawback to using this, though, is that the screen is quite a bit smaller, so if you avidly read e-books, you might think about buying a Kindle or maybe even an iPad to serve this purpose.

The price of smart phones is usually what keeps everyone that wants one from owning one. Before you buy any smartphone, you must consider the price and whether or not it justifies getting a full-featured phone. Priced at only $49, this iPhone 3GS is very affordable and far less than you would pay for a comparable smart phone today. The catch is that you have to sign a two year contract with AT&T.

Yet if you want to get an iPhone at a bargain price, this may be a good option for you. Getting a mobile phone is an essential necessity in today’s world, and even though you have a contract, it is a bill you have to pay so why not get an iPhone at this low price.

A notion that is often a confusion for many people is that they believe they can get an iPhone 3GS, and later update the operating system to IOS4 or 5 later on. This is possible, but you have to realize that you won’t get all of the benefits of the later OS. That’s because the iPhone 3GS is really made or the iOS 3 system, it will never have the speed or capabilities of an iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. It simply will not make a difference if you download a more advanced OS to your iPhone 3GS – the features and benefits are essentially not the same. Since upgrades are not possible with the iPhone 3GS, just buy it because it is a great deal, and not because you want to upgrade.

Of all of the smartphones that you can get, the iPhone 3GS has the most features at the lowest possible price. iPhone 3GS is an excellent phone with many features, however, some people would feel better spending a little extra money to have the latest version.
